Most of the worry about selling a camera is about the meeting itself. Here is exactly what happens at it, including the part where you can say no.
By the time we meet, you have already seen a price. It came from the model you picked and the answers you gave about its condition. The meeting is there to confirm those answers - not to start a negotiation from zero.
You choose the day, the time and the place: a hotel lobby, a condo, an office or a cafe anywhere in Bangkok, or our shop in Sathon. The pickup is free. If you are working around a flight, say so when you book.
The single most useful thing you can do is describe the camera honestly when you answer the questions. A scratch you mention costs you nothing extra at the meeting. A scratch you forgot to mention means a re-quote.
The check happens in front of you. On a DSLR or mirrorless body, and on any lens you are selling with it, we look at:
If everything matches, the price you were quoted does not change. If it does not match, we re-quote on the spot to fit the real condition, and you are free to say no and keep the camera. Nothing is taken before you agree.
One honest limit: we do not buy cameras that no longer switch on. If yours does not, you can still sell the lenses, and those often carry most of the value anyway.
Once you both agree, you are paid the same day - by transfer to a Thai bank account, or in cash within the legal cash limit. Larger amounts are paid by transfer rather than in cash. Tell us which you prefer when you book.
You get a written record of the sale. We ask for photo ID - a passport for visitors, a Thai ID card otherwise - because we record who each camera was bought from. That protects you as much as us: it is what keeps stolen gear out of the chain.
If anyone claiming to be us asks for either, it is not us. Our full list of checks for any second-hand deal is in seven checks before you sell a camera in Thailand.
Charge the battery, copy your photos off, take your memory card out and clear your accounts from the camera. The steps are in how to reset and wipe your camera before you sell it. Then find your model and see the price before anyone meets anyone.
Pick your model and see the price on this site, or send a photo on LINE and we will answer by hand. Camera prices are for the body only; lenses are quoted separately.
